Nostalgia Foods

Quick post today. I'm working on my spring library Vintage Cookbook programs. So far, I've been hired for 9 Holiday programs, a couple Crazy About Cakes for Valentine's Day and some Spring Vintage Holidays. I'm working on Nostalgia Foods, and my Mother put in a request for these and her beloved Snowballs. What are your favorite Nostalgia foods?
I suppose mine are also the Snowballs and these too. And S'mores of any kind, Frangoe Mints, Trinidads from Fannie Maes, Turtles from Fannie Maes. And - ok - anything chocolate, let's be honest.
In other news I've lost 11 pounds. If I keep 'researching' for these programs, though, that may change!

Mountain candy bars, with cherry filling! An old favorite and not easy to find.

G.M. Malliet!!! I'm so psyched you wrote, though I don't know what Mountain candy bars are. I'll find out, clearly I'll have to taste them to appreciate your feeling.

G.M. wrote the wonderful Death of a Cozy Writer and Death of the Lit Chick. I've read both, given both as gifts, and handed them to MANY folks at the library. VC readers -if you haven't read these, and you love traditional well crafted mysteries - GO GET THEM.

Here's the history of Mountain Bars - very interesting! They do sound good...

I was a big fan of Golden Fruit (I think that is what it was called) which was a rather dry cookie with a raising filling. It came in a long rectangle and was easy to just eat up a whole package in to time flat.

Sarah's favorite proved a bit harder to find, but I believe it is the Sunshine Golden Fruit Biscuit, a raisin delight that many folks rave about online. While I could find not picture, I did find that they are no longer made, but many people on the Internet feel these are just like them:

These look interesting. Lots of people have posted recipes for taste-alikes online, too, Sarah - take heart!

Congrats on the 11 lbs. lost!

Since there's been some talk of chocolate, my favorite candy bar when I was young was Sky Bar. I loved that it had 4 different filling flavors in one candy bar.

Being a huge fan of cherries, I'd better check out Mountain Bars ;) Thank you for the link!
