Be My Valentine

This is from the adult Valentine's Day party menu, Better Homes and Gardens Birthdays and Family Celebrations, 1963. Those gelatin hearts are made from deep Jello in a baking dish, but I still don't get how to get the diamond faceted style of those hearts.
This is the Valentine Ring-around:
Mash together one 12-oz. carton cream -style cottage cheese and two 3-oz. packages cream cheese till well blended. Soften 1 tsp. unflavored gelatin in 1/4 cup cold water; dissolve over hot water; add 1/4 tsp. salt. Stir gelatin mixture into cheese mixture.
Add 1 cup seedless grapes, 1/2 cup broken pecans, 2 tablespoons chopped chives. (oh boy). Fold in 1 cup whipping cream, whipped. Turn into 5-cup ring mold or individual molds. Chill till firm. Unmold. Top with Heart Cutouts.
That is a very odd flavor combination.
I'm still reading the crochet mystery series from Betty Hechtman. These are great fun, but not improving my attempt to crochet. My zig-zag blanket is looking worn and it's barely started. Still, it's my New Year's resolution and is using up yarn I've had a while.

God, that sounds disgusting. Why not just eat them all separately? I like molds, but the obsession with them back then is comical, isn't it?

Oh I don't think I'll bother making this, it really doesn't sound appealing and I have to say doesn't look too great either - bring on the Claret Punch!
