Yvetter Whiteley's Asian Turkey Burgers

I was so excited to get this fantastic recipe from Yvette Whiteley. She is a friend of Molly's who baked a special Lawn Order cake for the launch of the book. I love the pigeon on it! All writers would be lucky to have this kind of support! -AA

I'm a friend of Molly's from Champaign, Illinois. Part of a group of women, who like to read, eat, drink wine. We call ourselves a booklunch group- not a traditional book group since we don't read the same book and discuss, just trade recommendations about what we like to read. Molly and Sarah Wisseman are mystery authors, the rest of us, ardent supporters! Our connections are varied, some of us are neighbors, once upon a time PTO parents, members of a play group for our then preschoolers. Since the group's children now range in age from 16-40, PTO and preschoolers (other than grandchildren) are behind us.

Asian Turkey Burgers

1 lb 93/7 ground turkey

¼ c. finely chopped onion

¼ c. chopped red pepper

¼ c. chopped cilantro

½ c. chopped mushrooms

2 cloves minced garlic

1 T. grated peeled ginger

1 T. low sodium soy sauce

1 T. Worcestershire sauce

a few drops of hot sauce or more if you like spicy stuff

salt and pepper

Shape into 4 oval patties and chill in fridge for at least an hour to firm up (can skip this if pressed for time) Cook in a non-stick skillet or grill pan about 5-6 minutes per side until interior temp reaches 170.

I serve in a pita with lettuce, tomato and yogurt sauce

Cilantro Lime Yogurt Sauce

1 6 oz. container fat free greek yogurt (even better with the 2% or whole milk yogurt)

1 clove minced garlic

½ cup chopped, seeded cucumber

¼ cup chopped cilantro

juice of ½ lime

few drops of hot sauce

Mix all ingredients together and chill for about an hour to allow flavors to blend
