So Bad It's Funny

In an hour the realtor is coming to take photos of our soon to be listed house. Many folks have mentioned to me that the market is tough - really? But the fact is that larger houses are coming into our price range and we have to try.
So the house is pretty clean. This is little thanks to me, as I was wiped out most of the day. I did manage to help sainted husband clean every inch of the kitchen - my older son threw up in a huge mess, hitting all four chairs, table, bathroom, entire kitchen floor. Likely it all needed a good bleaching anyway.
Sainted husband also took both boys to the doctor as both had fevers, coughed all night, etc. He learned that they have colds.
SO - I was thinking of why I like to do this blog. Some days, it keeps me tied to sanity. I can see how long I've done this and realize yes, time moves forward. Yes, there will be a day without Mulan songs and 6 loads of laundry.
I also like to laugh at the cookbooks. The recipes, like my life recently, are often so bad they are funny. I do realize things could be much worse around here, but I'm reluctant to tempt fate by listing examples...
This is from my McCalls pamphlet series, the 'Practically Cookless' volume, from 1981. It's from the chapter entitled Magic in a Can.
Bologna Rarebit (pictured) (I'm assuming you'd need the huge beer to get this down.)
6 white bread slices (these books are pretty much all white bread)
6 bologna slices, outer rind removed (anything with 'outer rind' mentioned can't be good)
1 can condensed Cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
1/2 cup Chablis or sauterne
Dash cayenne
Arrange bread slices on cookie sheet or on tray of portable electric broiler. (Who has one of those?)
Broil, 3 inches from heat, 4 minutes, or until toasted.
Turn bread slices on other side; top with bologna slices. Broil 3 minutes, or until the bologna is hot.
Meanwhile, in small saucepan, combine cheese soup, wine and cayenne; heat, stirring, just to boiling.
Pour sauce over. Serve at once.
Wow.
Certainly looks appetizing, eh?

Good luck with the house selling/house buying! I swear we'll never move from here not only because I love it, but also because the thought of cleaning the house and packing and moving is simply far too daunting.
Rarebit with bologna sounds gross!!

Hi
Blessings to you sweet lady.
Yes all this will someday seem like it was life on fast forward to you .
However in the meantime I promise you it still feels like you will not survive one more second without an escape hatch from which you emerge in your own personal little space shuttle with room for one and only one .
Just me no one else for 24 hours ,
Calgon take me away .
Life is like this from time to time but you will get to the other side .
The hard part is to get there you must live through it first.
So with that said I love your blog ,it is so wonderful thank you for sharing.
I enjoy my visits very much.
I agree the recipe may require a beer to wash it all down :)
I love old cookbooks but sometimes they get kind of weird.
May your week be filled with good health and much happiness.
Good luck with your house sale .
Happy Trails.
Hugs

I'd need 2 of those mongo beers to get this down! Wow! You husband truly is a saint. You must be exhausted with two sick kids and a house to scrub! I'm just loving your blog!
