More Handwritten Recipes: Crickets

This card is also from the same red plaid box I pulled that little booklet from yesterday. This is from the main part of the box, so the owners' recipes. I'll get back to that neat little book later, too. I found this card, and was intrigued by the notes on the back, too. Someone figuring out the mileage and gas cost of holiday travels? And then there's the title of these cookies. Anyone heard of these before?

Combine 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. each soda and salt
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract and 1/2 cup butter in large mixer bowl
Beat 1 minute at medium speed
Stir in 1 cup each of diced toasted almonds and chocolate covered raisins
Drop by teaspoonful 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets
Bake 375 degrees 10 - 12 minutes

I'm home sick today - cold into nasty asthma flareup. Haven't had one of these to this extent in a while, but everyone else in the house was sick so it finally got to me. So much better than it was last year, though. I won't get into how many pieces of Halloween candy I ate yesterday after taking the steroids again. While I need them for the asthma, I do wish they wouldn't start up a soundtrack in my mind like "Chocolate in the house! Go get some. You know you want it!"

I just found a treasure trove of written recipes. I LOVE them. I love thinking of the person who wrote them. My 'person' loved dessert. Most of the recipes are for sweets. I can't wait to try some of them.

Feel better soon.
