Moji Pearls and Pecan Puffs

I love the name of these, as well as the fact that they use really basic ingredients most people have at hand. These are also from Christmas Favorites.

Moji Pearls
3/4 cup butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp. salt
Cream butter with extract; add sugar gradually, beating until fluffy.  Blend flour and salt; add in thirds to creamed mixture, mixing until blended after each addition.  Chill dough until easy to handle. Shape into 1-inch balls or into crescents.  Place about 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 325F for 20 minutes.

There is an option for those to roll them in sesame seeds. Ick.

Pecan Poofs variation:  Follow recipe for Moji Pearl.  Substitute 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar for sugar.  Decrease flour to 1 cup.  Mix in 1 cup pecans, finely chopped. Shape dough into balls or pyramids.

Pyramids? Interesting.

I just took a break to get beaten at Mario Kart Wii again. Day 1 of Winter Vacation for the 7 year old...
