Sand Cookies

I had so much fun at my last show of 2010 Tuesday night at the Schaumburg Twp. Library. I did 41 shows this year - whew! This crowd came for Preserving Holiday Recipes and we all had a blast making our recipe album pages.

I will move to another Christmas Cookie cookbook soon here but I had to put up this one, also from the Southern Living Cookies and Candy Book:

Sand Cookies
1 c. butter
4 tbsp. powdered sugar
3 c. flour
1 c. chopped pecans
Cream the butter and powdered sugar in a bowl.  Add flour and pecans gradually and mix well.  Shape into small rolls about 1 1/2 inches long and place on an ungreased cookie sheet.  Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.  Roll in additional powdered sugar while hot.  5 dozen.

This recipe is from Louisiana, which makes sense with the pecans.

Molly MacRae's new book:  Lawn Order, comes out today:
Lawn Order (Five Star Mystery Series)

We will be having a Warm Up with Flaming Foods celebration during the entire month of January, with lots of guests. That's really going to be fun.

In the meantime, I'm warming up with my Gingerbread Tea here. I have our Teen Corps tonight - its the annual crazy holiday party. Fondue, pizza, contests, prizes, games, etc. I hear Moms sometime complain about school parties being crazy. Ha.

You did 41 programs this year? I am such a slacker! The cookies sound good, though.
