Burger Mountain

I have more great recipes from my friend Marie but wanted to get some things up for Memorial Day Weekend, too.  This is from the 1965 BHG Barbecue Book. I love Mom's dress, and Dad's fancy pants for BBQ-ing. My sons' hair is never neat like that (mine either), and certainly not outside. Below is "Our Best Burgers!"

Here are the ingredients for Burger Mountains, on the lower left for the burger pictures. And yes - those are held together with picks topped by metal cattle heads.
Burger Mountains:  "The difference here is sour cream - it flavors the burgers and makes the sauce-"
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck:  "If beef is lean, have 3 oz. suet ground with this amount of meat." (gross)
1 cup dairy sour cream
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon instant minced onion
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup corn flakes, crushed
Butter or margarine
2 hamburger buns, split
1 medium tomato, thinly sliced
1 medium unpared cucumber, thinly sliced
Basically combine all ingredients through the corn flakes into patties and broil 5 minutes on each side. Butter and toast the buns, grill the tomato and cucumber, put together.
Sauce:  1/2 cup dairy sour cream, 3 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon crumbled blue cheese (heat those together into sauce, drizzle over burger.)
Are you grilling this weekend?
