One last one from the Better Homes and Gardens 1963 Meals in Minutes. From the "Meals From Your Broiler" chapter here comes a menu for a Cranburger Broil: Cranburgers, Green Beans, Buttered Sweet Potato Halves, Stuffed Olives, Carrot Sticks, Celery Sticks, Steamed Fig Pudding with Frosty Sauce, Hot Coffee.
Cranburgers: Pour one 6-oz. can evaporated milk over 2 slices white bread; add 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, 2 tablespoons instant minced onion, 1 1/2 tsp. salt, 1/4 tsp pepper. Mix; form 6 patties.
To complete: Place patties on broiler rack; broil 6 minutes. Turn patties and add canned sweet-potato halves. Brush potatoes with melted butter; season. Broil 5 minutes. Top each patty with 1 tablespoon whole cranberry sauce. Broil 2 minutes.
This may actually be ok with just ground turkey patties and a little cranberry sauce. Just a thought. Here's the directions for dessert:
Dessert is steamed pudding. Simply slip a can of steamed pudding into boiling water - let simmer according to label directions. Come dessert time, team hot pudding with Frosty Sauce: Beat 1 pint soft vanilla ice cream till fluffy. Dash with nutmeg.
A "Can of steamed pudding"? Oh boy.
I'm off to the tonight to the Plainfield Public Library District to do my recipe scrapbooking Celebrations show. It's always fun to go there.
